True story. I originally intended Mr. Dark to be one of my other characters in disguise, but then I thought it was too obvious, so I made him a separate character. Then I tried to define him as one thing, then another. Now he's a complete unknown, but there are several interesting directions I have in mind. This particular comic points the reader in one clear direction. Can you guess it?
As you probably noticed, I'm a big Nine Inch Nails fan, so there have been a few references to the band in this series (like "The Good Soldier" and "The Wretched"). This week, we see one more: The blue flames in the background in this remixed edition of "Who is Mr. Dark?" draw a parallel between the "Broken" and "Fixed" LP's. Crazy shit.
You'll also notice that I'm starting to color code the dialogue boxes based on who's speaking, Dan being blue, Jake being red, and so forth. With Dan as this week's narrator, he brings to light a major subplot in the series: Dan made a deal with Mr. Dark a few years back. What were the terms, and what is Mr. Dark capable of? You'll find out.
